Poetry With a Great Inspirational Message

Poetry is a creative and affective way to express what we are feeling or what we have been through. It is also a creative and affective way to get an important or inspirational message that needs attention out there into the world.

I love poetry and bringing poems to life, especially those that will touch people in some way, or make them think, or make them take action.

In 2009, I have written a poem with a message that happens to be inspirational too. I think people will relate to it in some way or another.

Enjoy!

My Poem - Immune

IMMUNE
(February 25, 2009)

You tell me how to think,
Tell me how to act,
Tell me how to dress;
You program me with your mind,
With your eyes,
With your voice.

You debug me inch by inch
Thinking I won’t crash,
But your test fails.
There is a bug inside me.
You can try to crack the code
But I cannot be fixed.

The bug is my willpower,
My inner strength
That fights against your brainwash,
And fully repels
Your preconceived image
Of the person I should be.

The vision you have is yours alone;
It is not mine nor will ever be.
I have eyes of my own,
Deep eyes that see through your plan
To turn me into something I am not
Nor ever intend to be.

You can program me to your liking,
But you’re better off directing your energy
Towards someone else,
Someone who is not immune to your virus,
A robot that will follow every command
You code into his brain.

I cannot be automated,
I cannot be altered
Or rewired by anyone.
The only one who can transform me is me;
I will only do it to my own benefit,
Not the benefit of others.

I have programmed my mind
To crash your code,
To reroute your flow chart
Elsewhere but in my direction.
So go into shut down mode
And find another pc to infect.

Definitely a confident girl with attitude to not be molded into or doing something she is not totally cool with whatever may come. But a little angry, challenging tone maybe because this is her acquired taste because of past experiences of her environments and/or relationships not how she was born but how she was molded and reshaped by life. Hmmmm. Very good though Lovebuglena and you are still sexy!

You are right Regis. It is about being yourself and staying true to who you are. Also, you must not let other people change you into something you don't want to be.

I commented on this poem before but I find it even more meaningful now that I have more time to reflect upon what you express, Lena. Be yourself is the message that I get from this. Thank you!

Lena, this one resonated with me as I have been in a similar relationship where she wanted to re-create in an image of her own. Being a computer programmer I particularly enjoyed that allusion. Thanks for sharing. Voted up and awesome.

Not for sure :) Thanks for the clarification. There was a little relativity missed!

Tanmoy Acharya - Thanks for your feedback. Glad you found this poem effective.

To answer your question...

To someone that wants to change a person willpower is a bug and hence undesirable. To the person, trying to be changed, it is not a bug and hence desirable. Hope I didn't confuse you there.

Thanks for your feedback Susan. Much appreciated. People should accept us for who we are - both inside and out.

I enjoyed the poem. The comparison of the human mind with a software is effective. I have a question: if willpower is a bug, then it's something undesirable, if I get it right.

Very innovative piece of literature. Refreshing. Voted up!
