The Glam Nation Tour - Adam Lambert's Concert at Nokia Theater
On June 22nd, 2010 Adam Lambert took New York City and Nokia Theater by storm with his Glam Nation Tour, which included opening acts Allison Iraheta and Oriathi. His fans stood for hours online just so they could get themselves close to the stage. Some even camped out as there were blankets, pillows, and chairs abandoned near the theater. The line was a few blocks long. Seeing this long line curious onlookers wanted to know what people were waiting for and the fans screamed Adam Lambert.
The concert started at 8pm but doors opened at 7pm. It took almost one hour for everyone to get inside. The concert was General Admission standing though there were seats available for those who wanted to sit down. When you're going to see such an amazingly talented artist as Adam Lambert why would you want to sit down when you can actually be much closer to him by standing near the stage, or as close to it as you can get? I could have easily found myself a seat but I chose to stand close to the stage instead, and I don't regret it.The experience is that much better. Of course having a drink spilled near me wasn't the most pleasant experience as I had to stand near a puddle with nowhere to move but I didn't let it get to me. I came to see Adam Lambert and Allison Iraheta after all.
Opening Act - Allison Iraheta
Adam Lambert was the main act of the show so the concert started with Allison Iraheta taking the stage. She performed songs like Holiday, Robot Love, Scars, Don't Waste the Pretty, cover of Heartbreaker, and Friday I'll Be Over You. She was on fire the whole time. Instead of standing in one spot like some performers do Allison Iraheta ran around the entire stage, and you can feel the passion exploding from her with every performance. She rocked out with every performance. And it will be something that I will never forget.
Middle Opening Act - Orianthi
After Allison Iraheta finished her set, there was about a fifteen minute break as the stage was being prepared for Orianthi. While everything was getting set-up there was music playing from the speakers. Finally when everything was ready, Orianthi hit the stage. She performed songs like According To You, Feels Like Home, Think Like A Man, Drive Away, her new single Courage, Let's Go Crazy, What's It Gonna Be, Bad News, and Shut Up And Kiss Me. She blew everyone away with her guitar playing and her vocals were right on point as well. After performing each song she said either thank you or thank you very much, which was nice, but at the same time made me laugh as she didn't have to do that after every song.
Main Act - Adam Lambert
After Orianthi finished her set, it was time for the main act of the night - Adam Lambert. Everyone waited in anticipation for Adam Lambert to hit the stage and they screamed his name over and over again. Twenty minutes passed and still no Adam. The crowd was getting pissed. No one announced anything and it seemed like Adam might not be hitting the stage, especially since about half hour had passed and his first single For Your Entertainment was blasting from the speakers, yet Adam was still nowhere to be found.
At last, Adam finally hit the stage, all glammed up, and started singing his song Voodoo, which never made it to the US version of his debut album For Your Entertainment. I've never heard the song before and I thought that it was a great one. The rest of the songs that followed were Down The Rabbit Hole, his cover of Ring of Fire, Fever, Sleepwalker, Whataya Want From Me, Soaked, Aftermath, Surefire Winners, Strut, Music Again, If I Had You, and his covers of Mad World, and Whole Lotta Love.
Adam blew me away with every song. His vocals were phenomenal and I could feel the passion coming through in every performance. During a number of his performances he moved around the stage and strutted his stuff. He sure can dance. And then for some songs he toned it down and either sat down or stood by the mike stand as he sang.
Adam had four dancers with him on the show, one of which was his choreographer. He didn't really have set decorations on the stage, but during some of the performances he actually had colorful laser beams, which was really nice. He also had a screen in the back which had different pictures on it, related to the songs he was singing. There were a few costume changes in Adam's show and all sparkled in one way or another. He really loves glitter and glam and that is evident every time he goes on stage.
Final Thoughts
The Glam Nation Tour concert in New York City was amazing. All three performers Allison, Orianthi, and Adam rocked the stage and were on fire. Their vocals and performances were top notch and they had unbelievable stage presence. They are true artists and we are definitely going to see them for many years to come. I am so thrilled I went to see them in concert. I still feel like I am right there in Nokia Theater watching them perform.
It is one thing to hear their songs on a CD, and it is a totally different thing to hear them live in concert. Hearing them live is a million times better. If you haven't seem them in concert yet you should. It will be an unforgettable experience. You will really enjoy yourself. If you can stand close to the stage then do it. It's way better than sitting in a seat far away from the performing acts.
Did you go to any of Adam's Glam Nation Tour concerts?
It's been a while since I've seen Adam Lambert and Allison Iraheta in concert. I can't wait to see them live again - Adam Lambert the most. I hope he comes to NYC and soon.
Trespassing is an even better album than For Your Entertainment. It blows me away every time I listen to it and I've been listening to it so many times that I've lost count. He should have been the one to win American Idol. But in the end it doesn't really matter because he is a global superstar and a winner in his own right.
I love every song on the Trespassing album. My two most favorite songs are Underneath and Never Close Our Eyes. I sing them all the time and they bring out the passion from within me that makes me feel unbelievable.
