Promoting Your Books & Writing on AuthorsDen

Lena Kovadlo is a writer for various content-sharing websites. She's the author of 12 books and helps other authors publish theirs.

When I published my first book I decided to try promoting my book with Google Adwords. After giving it a shot I came to the conclusion that doing this is a waste of money. I thought it would be better to try promoting my book on writing sites. There I can showcase my writing and talk about my books. Since writing sites have lots of members there are sure to be people that may be interested in my books.

While browsing the Internet I stumbled upon a site called AuthorsDen. I thought it would be a great place to showcase my writing and talk about my books. At first I joined with a free membership but found out that it is a limited membership so ended up buying a higher membership that had more features and more options for me. There were a number of membership options to choose from but I ended up upgrading to a Gold Membership. The Gold Membership cost $200 per year (now $210), which is rather pricey, but I got a promotion so for the same $200 my membership was extended to two years. That was a great deal.

The items that I had posted on the site got a lot of traffic and my book ads got plenty of clicks, which was great. There is really no way for me to know if any of my book sales actually came from people seeing my book ads on AuthorsDen but I did get people to go to my book pages where they can get my books, which gave me a bigger shot of increasing my book sales.

Information about AuthorsDen and the perks of paid memberships

So what exactly did joining AuthorsDen and getting the Gold Membership offer me? By becoming a member of AuthorsDen I was able to post my writing - poetry, lyrics, prose, short stories, etc. and see view stats for each posted item. I was able to post information about my books, which included the book title, cover, description, page count, ISBN, etc. and where to buy my books. I even got my own website on AuthorsDen that I could share with other people, which would help me promote my books.

Besides this I was able to have my own blog, and I was able to post news and announcements related to my writing and my books. On top of that, I was able to create my own bio where I could talk about my interests, my writing, my awards and achievements, and anything else I wanted to share with others. Visitors to my site and my writing were able to leave their feedback, so I knew what they thought about my work.

All these things though could be done with lower paid memberships, so the perk of getting the Gold Membership included 100MB of storage, my own book ads (which I write and activate myself and get to see stats for), lots of traffic to my AuthorsDen site, my books, and my writing, and me becoming a featured author, which makes me, my writing, and my books more visible on the site.

Besides being able to showcase my writing and my books on AuthorsDen, I was also able to make new friends, which is an added bonus.

Personally I think AuthorsDen is a great site for sharing writing with others and for letting others know about your books. There are many memberships available and if you can't afford to get yourself a Gold Membership, you can certainly downgrade to a cheaper one. The Silver membership costs $120 a year and also allows you to have book ads on the site. And traffic to your posted items is good too. Feel free to give this one a try if you can't afford to get the Gold membership. Remember, you can always upgrade or downgrade to a different membership. Just make sure that you are not set up for automatic renewal.

With automatic renewal your membership renewal is processed for you using the credit card you provide during your initial site registration and your payment of yearly dues. You are renewed for the same membership you have prior to the renewal. If you want to select a different membership you will have to notify support about it otherwise you will be stuck with the same membership for another year. When you choose a membership you don't have to have it for a year. Quarterly memberships are also available.

I thought I would share this information with you in hopes that you will find it useful. If you have any questions about this great site let me know and I will try to answer them as best I can.
