I love fish but prefer fillets to whole fish because whole fish has a lot of bones in it and that's a choking hazard... I almost choked on some fish bones years ago and since then I only eat fish fillets. They are more enjoyable and don't create a mess. Plus, I don't have to sit there and search for and remove all the bones...which can be quite annoying.

There are many delicious seafood recipes that use fish as the star ingredient. One of them is fried salmon. There is nothing easier than making fried salmon. It requires very little preparation, very few ingredients, and the cooking time is under ten minutes. It can't get any better than this.

If you don't like to cook recipes that are hard and time consuming this is the recipe for you. You will be surprised at how easy it is to make fried salmon and at how delicious it tastes.

Ingredients

  • Salmon Fillets
  • Salt
  • Black Pepper
  • Lemon
  • Olive oil (or other oil you like)
  • Dried Basil

Instructions

  1. Rinse the salmon fillets under running water and pat dry with a paper towel. Cut the salmon fillets into smaller pieces but those that are still big enough.
  2. Squeeze the juice from the lemon on each piece of salmon. Sprinkle both sides with salt, black pepper, and dried basil. Then pour a little bit of olive oil (or oil of your choice) onto each piece. You may want to use a basting brush so each piece is thoroughly penetrated with oil. Once you do this let the salmon sit for a few minutes to let the lemon juice, the oil and the spices to be absorbed.
  3. Pour cooking oil into a skillet or frying pan and place on medium heat. When the skillet is hot place each piece of salmon on it and cook for a few minutes on each side. Do not over cook the salmon or it will be too dry... Depending on the quantity of the salmon fillets you may need to cook the salmon in batches as all of the salmon may not fit into the skillet.

Serving Fried Salmon

Once the salmon is done cooking, remove onto a plate and serve with a green leaf salad, grilled asparagus, steamed string beans or other veggies of your choice. Some freshly boiled rice will go great with the salmon as well. You may even enjoy it with some pasta in a creamy white sauce...or with roasted or mashed sweet potatoes.
